The new Kindle Paperwhite (kids edition which comes with a cover) is already reduced at Amazon, but only ships to the US. The price is about NZ$75 cheaper than available here, which is significant.
Any good options for shipping here that won’t take up the whole savings amount with shipping and GST costs? Or do you think we’ll see reasonable discounts here at some point during Black Friday sales? Best I’ve seen so far is $254 at PBTech.

Unfortunately, most Kindle eReaders are not compatible with our eBook websites because they do not use the industry standard formats for eBooks (EPUB or PDF). Only Amazon Fire tablets are compatible.

I never buy electronics from overseas unless they're so cheap that throwing them away is an option if they fail. NO CGA and possible extreme issues in any warranty claim is the deal breaker for me.
is it actually an upgrade over the last model?(legit question) from what i read inititally it wasn't. I think my next ereader will be colour.
Actually the warranty support from Amazon is excellent. The kids edition, which is the same price as the normal version, comes with a 2 year warranty. I once broke (physically damaged) a Kindle, already out of warranty. I jumped on Amazon chat support and mentioned the issue, and they gave me a US$40 discount voucher off a new one.
I have access to a US based library account, so I can send books straight to my Kindle which is nice. I do wish Auckland libraries supported them however.
