Avocados $0.09 each at Hastings Pak & Save

140

A Hawke’s Bay supermarket is offering what could be the country’s cheapest avocados, at just 9 cents each.

But shoppers will have to be quick to stock up, with the deal at Hastings Pak ‘n Save running for one day only and purchases limited to 10 avos per household.

Avocado prices are lower than usual this year, due to a large crop and lower demand from hospitality businesses due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Across town, rival supermarket chain Countdown was advertising avocados for $1.20 each or three for $3.

  • Tai Ping is always good to watch as well, would pick up whole bags of small, sad ones for 7c each a couple years back. They're all over Auckland, unsure if they're also outside of Auckland.

Probably 70% or so were fine, and 30% were unsalvageable, but at 7c each it didn't matter.

  • Nice, they are 5 for $2 at my local, so i just ripen then freeze the halfs.

Now if only blue cheese can come down in price.
