Still a lot for just a phone

Yeah I really don't get that sort of utility out of a phone, max I'll spend is 300-350

      • Some people just want to think differently with their wallets and rights to repair

Thank you SO much for bringing this deal to our attention! I missed out a couple weeks ago when Noel Leeming had the same price, they flew off the shelves so fast. I'm surprised Vodafone still had any left this time around since you've posted this almost 7 hours ago!

I've been in dire need of upgrade (still on iPhone 6) and I just copped a 512GB Pro Max in Pacific Blue, so stoked I don't have to shell out full price for a 13! Can't wait to receive it soon!

Oh man, iPhone 6 to iPhone 12 Pro Max is going to be a whopping upgrade for you! Pacific Blue is a beautiful colour btw. Just picked one up for the missus and was pretty jealous of the colour vs the Graphite colour. A really cool case to get is the Nillkin Magnetic Cam Shield case (there are some sellers on TradeMe that have pricing close to AliExpress+GST). The case evens out the back of the phone and has a protector that slides over the camera bump. Also has MagSafe support if you get the Magnetic edition.

      • Yeah I'd say! My phone is at a point where apps would just be like "nope" and close down on its own when I'm in the middle of using it. I was edging on pulling the trigger for the 12 last year when it came out, but somewhere in the back of my mind was telling me to tough it out one more year and see what the 13 brings. It was a rough year but when a deal like this comes along, it was worth the suffering. (and yes I agree, I definitely prefer Pacific Blue to the new Sierra Blue)

I appreciate the phone case suggestion! I've definitely been looking for one since last night (looked at a ton of reviews) and the one you suggested seems pretty solid and good value. Thank you!

        • Spigen cases are also very good. Have dropped mine & wife's iphones few times and has survived the fall, so I would say they are good.

          Worth checking Pbtech or Amazon.

  • A friend is interested in buying an Apple iPhone. Should they buy an Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max 512GB at $1,869 or Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max 128GB at $1,999?

Depends. But in general (IMO) go to the newest tech you can (as lifespan will be longest, features/tech newer, etc), however in this case the largest differentiator between those two (asides from the newer/older models and the features they bring) is the size (512 v 128), so if there is a specific need for capacity then it would make sense to seriously consider the older version.

Don't forget about the camera upgrade and screen. Just to let you know 128gb won't allow to record video in prores.

All depends on the person's preference.

Also 120Hz screen and bigger battery. I just upgraded from XS Max and didnt think id notice the difference but I started using it, the difference was night and day and also the battery life.

Only downside with the 13 series is the screen now stores data so if you crack your screen and 'get it repaired at a third party/replace/Apple Authorised Repair place or you do it yourself, you lose Face ID unless you get it done by Apple.

The battery hasnt been serialised yet so battery replacements are still possible for 13
