How does this compare to the basic Oral-B electric toothbrush (usually on sale for $20)? Not much information on the Oral-B website other than it tells you to change where you are brushing after 30 seconds and the travel case
The basic is worthless. It only cleans in 2D, i.e. rotates instead of pulsates.
The $20 is a slight upgrade to a normal brush, the 700 [or 2000 is the sweetspot] oscillate and pulsate i.e. 3D.
Going above to 2000 too much and you start getting gimmicky features, when the only thing you need is a decent battery life and good cleaning.
Alternatively, the Oral-B Pro 2000 is still ~AUD $65ish delivered @ Amazon AU.

Do they need special replacement brushes are they pricey?
Please recommend a good beginner's brush, whose replacement heads are cheap.
