Good coffee beans under level 4

What are the best options to get coffee beans during lockdown?

Any recommendations on coffee beans on supermarket shelves?

Just saw coffee supreme in countdown online. I guess I’m sorted. :)

    • New World had them for a while and Countdown recently started. I've been getting them from NW in the past.
These are the only beans with roasted on date rather then expiry!

      • Looks like Coffee Supreme is delivering during lockdown too.

    • PaknSav have them for $6, much cheaper than $10 in countdown, strange how price can vary alot between supermarkets

https://strictlycoffee.co.nz/ < Their subscription service is good, house blend is top notch

    • Do they operate during L4 lock down?

Get coffee shipped to your door free to help get through lockdown! Just enter code FREESHIP at the checkout (all orders over $20 Nationwide)

        Looks like they do!

C4 Coffee in Christchurch is still operating, shipping out orders. I believe they’re now distributing to some supermarkets too but I’d assume beans will be fresher ordering direct. They’re pretty quick too. Great coffee with vast variety

C4 all the way if they are delivering. Their "Krank" blend is the bomb!

    • Another vote for C4, they had my beans to me the next day :)

Hummingbird is a decent supermarket coffee - they put a 5 month shelf life date on their silver packs.

Thought I would add L'affare Coffee - they have a 3 month shelf life date on their packs.

Hummingbird - Oomph! (On special this week $6/200gms - CD), L'affare Gusto and Supreme is my go to supermarket coffee

I've been buying from Pirate Nation for the last few months and have been really enjoying their beans. You may have seen them advertise codes here. Typically I will get 2KG at a time (in 500g bags) and that'll last me 4 weeks. That's pushing it a bit in terms of freshness, but I don't really want to buy in lesser quantities because then I'm getting into paid shipping territory (see below). Beans start to lose a lot of flavour and aroma after about 3 weeks from roast date, which is why its advisable to buy direct from a coffee roastery.

I've been buying the Captain George and Wicked Wench beans - 4 x500g bags total $71.98 and then I use code PIRATE which discounts the price by $10.79, taking the total to $61.19. Free shipping with $60+ spend too. They roast to order and ship out same day. Every purchase thus far has been on my doorstep the following day.

    • Another option - Coffee-Tech sell 2KG (2 X 1kg bags) of their house blend beans on TradeMe here for $49 with free shipping. They have had this promotion running for quite a while now and I have purchased the blend a couple times. I highly rate it if dark chocolate and caramel notes are to your liking. For whatever reason the offer is more expensive on their own website.

We have been using Raglan Roast for years. Super fast delivery. Real value for money, $40 for 1kg. They just put their prices up for the first time in 20 years! Super nice people if you ever get the chance to call into their outlets. Free shipping with $20 spend. Good Luck :D

  • My preferred is Shaky-Isles, Havana and Supreme.
    They are all in countdown.
A plus for supreme for printing roasting date.
