Good for those who use very little apps and need basic phone features
otherwise recommend most people stick to snapdragon 600+ Adreno 500+ models or the equivalent.

  • With the Huawei phones if I wanted something as simple as facebook on it, would that be a tedious task to do?

    • +1

Yeah, they’re pretty much glitchy and laggy straight out the box.

      • So, it is not worth the effort if you want to get this for a 12 year old as a first phone, if he is going to use it for YouTube and basic gaming?

        • For the price, it’s not a bad shout. A kid would still be stoked with it - just may not “last” as originally anticipated.

        • You can install Youtube Vanced, and Huawei store should have the popular games.

    • Brought one and just had a play with it. Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp are fine, no lag and just like the native apps from the other brands with Google services. The trick is to download the apps from the Aurora app store, at https://auroraoss.com/ - it's an open source fork of the Yalp Store, which is designed to get apps from the Google Play store without Google Services Framework. Go to the link above and install the store, and then download the app from the store. It's as simple as that.

That store also has the other non-Google-branded stuff like Netflix, Twitter, Firefox and Waze (Strangely enough Waze is owned by Google) which you won't find in Huawei's AppGallery. I suspect rsth had to use Gspace, which is the VM solution for Gapps/GSF pdevonporf talked about. Note however it appears that unlike the earlier post-ban phones there's no way to hack-install Gapps on it, so Gspace is required if you want Google apps.

Huawei Y6p doesn't have access to the Google Play store.

    • Had one of these they are an excellent phone for the price but using it on Google play as a virtual phone they are rubbish almost like going back 10 years as far as lag. If you just want to use it as stock and as a second phone it's great as you have access to popular apps but as a main phone no.

      • Have you tried installing Google mobile services using the guides on Youtube?

        • Yes, I've tried different ones on YouTube as well as Huawei store. They are all virtual machines which makes the phone lag

      • So in short, it is worth 50 bucks, lol

  • all sold out , confirmed

  • wow wish i saw this earlyer
