Blunt Umbrella - So dam expensive.

I had to write this as a post.
I dropped my Blunt umbrella on the bus, now someone else has taken it home for themselves.
I wish that Blunt would drop the 40% off code again, they are just a bit over priced without that code!
They did give me a 10% off code via email but doesn't match the 40% off they are clearly capable of.
I just wanna go back to that deal from last year :(

  • You need to put an apple tag in it. Mine came with a built in 'tile', although that died when the battery died. https://www.thetileapp.com/en-nz/blog/find-your-umbrella

    • Definitely will the next time, maybe CC need to hold the shop at ransom and demand greater discounts :D

    • The tiles now have replaceable batteries. So would be worth upgrading yours if you found the tile useful.

  • What's a reasonable price for one of these umbrellas?

    • $70 or so would be great. I think I paid about $66 for my now lost blunt metro.

  • Maybe they never will again. I think a few took advantage. Some people ahem bought a dozen of them. I think they probably should have placed limits. The point of that discount could have been to introduce more to the blunt brand. Once you have one, you will want to have one again if something happens to yours. Just like you. I know people who saw ours and asked about them. Doesn't mean they did purchase one, but they were certainly interested. PS Sometimes other retailers do have discounts. Once Barkers had half price metros.

It was post-lockdown, so perhaps they needed to liquidate the stock they had on hand

  • I won a big one from Good Taste, so free but it was really annoying when I left it on a plane. It went from Wellington to Tauranga, Air NZ wouldnn't sent it back cos it was unaccompanied luggage. My sister's friend up there got it from the airport and couried it back. People thought I was silly to bother but it was way cheaper than buying a new one.
Check all the stores that sell them for specials, I got 25% (I think) off one at rembrandt a few years ago. 40% would be awesome though, good luck.

You can keep an eye on Onceit - I think they have Blunt Umbrellas in stock pretty much all the time. A metro there is currently $89.99 for certain colours, but they also have other colours for $109 with $20 credit.

They regularly do additional discounts at checkout too. From my emails, the last one for Blunt was 10% off in January, so might be due for another one soon.

They also do the $20 coupons for $10 frequently (usually it's posted here), so if you can grab one of those, brings it down further.

I've gotten a metro for myself and my partner for about $30 each this way

  • Toyco have 15% off Blunt now, could then get $20 off with the Zip coupon (on Cheapies) if it's over $100, so $83 for the cheapiest I think.

  • what's so special about them?

Their main feature is that they are very well built, faring incredibly well in rough conditions, especially in high wind. They are particularly popular in Wellington! I've got a couple and have had them for years and rate them highly. They've got no areas of rust or damage to the canopy or other parts even after a fair bit of use.
