With the Kogan $1 3 month 30gb prepaid plans expiring soon, what are some good mobile plans worth moving to?

  • I have been wondering about that as well, and the Kogan $5 is only for new customer…..

    • Just use another email and make a new account been doing that since kogan mobile was first introduced here

      • how can you keep apply for email address used once ? that means I need 12 email accounts over a year.

      • do they allow you to retain the number? transfer from kogan to kogan?

Unsure I only use it for the data

I noticed that kogan has enabled auto-renewal for my plan. And I 100% know that it was disabled about a month ago.
Be careful. Double check. Especially if you got that quarterly 32GB $1 promo. Dodgy stuff… disabled again.

    • Yeah noticed that as well. Cheeky eh.

    • I checked mine. Still disabled. And recently renewed for another month.

      • I was sure I disabled mine then I got a $180 charge on my credit card and was a bit surprised…. then logged in and saw renew was on so thought I must have not done it properly

        • I also had it disabled, but upon recking today I see auto-renew has been enabled again!

          • @Arsonist: maybe it turns on by itself after every month?

@huffboy: So I turned off auto-renew again this morning, and literally just received this email from them:

              "Hey Arsonist,
Your service for 02xxxxxxx is set to automatically recharge in a week!"

Just rechecked and it hadn't been turned back to auto-renew, but it wouldn't have surprised me!

    • Yep, same thing happened with me. I was lucky my account didn't have sufficient funds.

Snippet from my conversation with Kogan:

-Kogan: As I can see your auto-renewal is off and you won't be charged until you turn it on or purchase any plan from your end
-Kogan: And the card details are only accessible to customer and only you can change them. Also, it is required for verification purpose
-Bargain-Hunter: That's what I thought but I received 3 emails recently saying "Unfortunately, there was an issue with your saved payment method for +64 28 8xxx xxxx."
-Kogan: Oh okay, don't worry your plan won't renew and you won't be charged anything
      -Kogan: As auto-renew is off
-Kogan: No payment will be taken when auto-renewal is off

In the end I just asked them to delete my account…

    • Thanks for pointing out that. I remember I have disabled it just after I activated my plan, but I just checked it now and it was on. I disabled it then log out and log in again after few minutes and it was turned back on again. Now, it is showing disabled after 2 attempts.

    • Mine expired a couple of days ago, auto-renewal was not auto enabled for me, I did change my credit card to a prezzy card with zero balance just incase…LOL

  • So did anyone find a replacement for this other than the $5 workaround, as wanting to keep existing number?

Otherwise I suppose the $15 per month is as good as any competitors as a basic plan?

Otherwise I suppose the $15 per month is as good as any competitors as a basic plan?

      It's better than anyone else's

  • I used to port my kogan number to 2degrees/vodafone (free visitor sims) and then port it back to kogan next day using a new email id and enjoy a month free.
But it’s a hassle every month and sometimes number porting gets stuck between companies.
But all in all it’s a small price for cheap service by retaining the number.
