Air NZ Covid 19 Credit Expiry Extended

Hi, was in discussion with Air New Zealand this morning because I was under the impression that the credit they have created for travel they cancelled last year was due to expire 31 March 2021 unless it was used to book another flight.

Turns out that behind the scenes they have quietly been extending these credits expiry date to 31 December 2021.

Happy days but still not many places you can use that cancelled overseas flight credit……. YET.

  • Yip, that changed a while ago. Was really good cos it also meant you can cancel any flights before 31 March and get credit, we did that a few times and booked cheaper flights instead. I wonder if they'll extend that since, as you say, you still can't really book to international destinations. Luckily we only had domestic flights cancelled so not a huge amount of credit to use up.

    • Thats pretty sad to hear people abusing their goodwill

      • +1

with all the changes to flights our flights had been changed anyway (times, and planes) and it took so long to be able to use some credit that prices had already jumped up. just ended up paying the "normal" price.
Their credit system is ok now, but it was terrible for months, some of that was understandable but if they just let credit be flexible from the start then a lot of customers would have been much happier.
