EnergyClubNZ Are No More - Recommended Power Company Now?

Now that EnergyClubNZ are no longer trading, they have moved their customers to Contact Energy. Since I've only just been moved over to them, I have no basis on knowing what their costs are like, but has anybody else who was with ECNZ done any digging into a power company with better rates / deals than Contact?

I am based in Wellington, so a like for like comparison would be good.

Thanks in advance!

  • It was annoying being automatically switched to Contact with no chance to stop it. I'm in Upper Hutt, I did the what's my number thing, it said Ecotricity was cheapest but they don't take credit card payments. Electric Kiwi was next, I've been with them before and we don't save much with the free hour of power to make it worth it.
Ended up going with Genesis cos we have gas with them so get a discount. Genesis did contact me a few hours before I received the email from Energy Club offering a 29% discount if I signed up with them for 12 months but we don't want a fixed term.

    • thats a massive discount for a relatively short term

      • Yeah, it was tempting, but we're just not sure where we'll be in 6 months and the break fee was $150.
