Does anyone here purchase Netflix through VPN in say Argentina or Brazil where it’s far cheaper? Is this possible?

As far as I know you can purchase from say HongKong using a VPN and you will need to supply your Hong Kong address (google maps should locate your HK apartment) and you will still be able to play Netflix NZ without a VPN. I can never seem to get mine going using a VPN, used to be able to select say UK as my country and watch Brit Netflix but have been unable to do so for some time.
I recently tried (2 days ago) to purchase Netflix from the USA site while on a VPN as they offer a 1 month trial (why no trial in NZ?).
It all seemed to go well until the final stage where it required to send an SMS to a US mobile number. I tried numbers from a couple of web-sms sites with no luck then an SMS number I got from textPlus, none of which worked.
I imagine Netflix based in other countries will try and make you prove you're in that country when signing up. I ended up paying $17 a month for the standard HD plan which seems a lot but I'll know in a month if it's been worth it.
I got pretty close, but kept getting an error when trying to process credit card payment. There is a huge thread on the forums of ozbargain I found, it definitely works, lots of people do it, just seems like a credit card blocking for an overseas payment from this end.
I signed up Turkey Netflix using a VPN as it is the cheapest around. Worked fine

Netflix block VPNs on a regular basis so it's a game of cat and mouse.
