Great news… It's Discount Day tomorrow at Gull! From 7am Thursday 23 January, until 12pm midday Friday 24 January, we're dropping the price of all fuel grades, at all Gull sites. Check back at 6am tomorrow for the discount.
No flashy loyalty cards. No minimum spend or maximum fill.

I noticed Z and caltex no longer price match. Must be that sharetank feature where you can lock in and prepay a low price.
My local Caltex has been matching the past 2 discount days
If you go to a Gull that has humans, you also get vouchers worth 10% off ($3 off $30 / $5 of $50) which is worth more than 20c per litre (based on fuel price more than $2 per litre).
The vouchers last about three weeks, and make Gull even better priced than it is day-to-day.
For me at least, that makes Gull cheaper than using my Smiles / FlyBuys etc.
If they stop giving out the vouchers (pretty sure I got them every month through 2019 including Dec 2019 which was the last Gull deal day), then it does make the deal days much less attractive.

Note that even if you don't want to get the vouchers, a staffed store with a pay at pump station will probably be the same price or better than Mobil Smiles. AFAIK they normally price match the staffed price, but the pay at pump price is 6 cents cheaper.

Note that they seem to be converting sites to be unstaffed so things will probably be different in 6 months to 1 year. E.g. in the past 2 years or so, I know that Sel Peacock, Portage Road and Roseback East have gone from being staffed to unstaffed, and I'm fairly sure some of the ones in East and South Auckland too. (You can tell if it's a conversion from the station design e.g. if they have a building for a store.)
