Nzpost Missing Item

I recently bought something from a domestic private seller off marketplace which was posted to my address. The seller communicated well and felt trustworthy and II had the option to pick up as well. However I haven't received it after a week of waiting and it's starting to worry me. I also can't make contact with the seller as well.
Any suggestions are much appreciated

  • Depends on how it was sent. If sent as parcel post with or without tracking it can take a while. Nz post are already getting busy with the lead up to Christmas.

I have used this process for an item lost using just stamps - they cover up to $500 from memory. I ended up getting a refund of $100ish from them for the cost of the lost item. They generally need the seller to complete something as well, and it does take time (10+ working days)

  • Usually the claim has to been made by the person sending. As they are the person who has the lost. Then NZ Post will contact the receiver to confirm they have not received it. Then they action the claim. Your problem is contact with your buyer for a refund/replacement/non supply.

  • NZ post has been horrid lately, waiting up to three weeks for items to be delivered even though we are rural and have a local po box (and had two items disappear, luckily they refunded me on Trade Me). If untracked you have zero claim, if tracked try and get the tracking number. You could try facebook or neighbourly to see if the seller is on there to try and follow up. Good luck.
