  • Just to let people know, the deal doesn't seem to work properly if you have a plus sign (+) in your email address. You never receive the free Whopper coupon despite no error. I don't just mean if you try to do something like person+child01@gmail after you already signed up for person@gmail. Even if you do something like human+earth@whateverdomain and there should be no BK account with a remotely similar email address, it still doesn't seem to work.

    It could be this is intentional to try and stop people using the plus trick in Gmail for multiple accounts. But since they don't seem to even care if your email address is verified, more likely just some part of the system doesn't handle a plus in the email address properly even if their front end accepts it. Not the first time I've come across this. Auckland Transport was or is another one.

    Having periods (.) in your email address seems fine including multiple periods e.g. my.burger.king@whateverdomain. (Multiple consecutive periods I have no idea since the Android app doesn't like you doing that. Since multiple consecutive periods appears to violate rfc2822 that seems fair enough anyway.) A single hypen-minus (-) e.g. app-account@whateverdomain also seems fine, didn't test multiple.

  • Has anyone else had the issue of the free whopper disappearing from the coupon screen & going to the reward screen & appearing as a code? I haven’t redeemed it yet but it has disappeared from the coupon screen & now appears in the reward screen as a code to present.

    • I have tried to redeem today at Wairau Park, , been told the app is not working today, come back tomorrow……and yes i have issue with my coupon too, I will call before I go, otherwise it's wasting my time arriving there been told to come back later

      • ohohcoco: You could always use the app ordering system. You do have to enter a credit card number although if you aren't paying it doesn't have to be a working one. You can place your order before you head off, that way it's quite likely it's working. To be fair, if you are able to get the four digit number it's probably working anyway but it seems more likely to be problems if you have to try and get staff to use their PoS.

        I mean you could have problems with checking in when you're there or maybe the store is closed or whatever but I don't know how likely that is. Depending on the distance between where you are now and the store, you could even check in before leaving although depending on how long each of you takes your burger won't be as fresh. Also if the store isn't open, you're SoL.

        Where ever you check in, I guess it's also possible you'll check in and the store will say the app ordering is broken so it doesn't show in their order system. So they don't know about your order. But I find that unlikely. And you could probably convince them to give you your order by showing it in the app or your email.

        • Hi Nil, thank you for your message, I did first order through the app, and arrived at Wairau Park to pick up my order, been told they can't track my order, then I have to cancel from the app, and redo as order at restaurant, and been told the code can't work, as the app is down, and it's the whole country system down, I think it's just this store can't do it or don't know how to do it, I will try another store sooner, thank you

          • @budget: Weird. I wonder what would have happened if you actually checked in. You can't cancel once you've successfully checked in AFAIK. It's possible the order would have still shown up on their order system and they're just confused or being weird. Although if it didn't show up but you did check in you would need to try and convince them to give you the order or complain to BK.

    • arrivingsomewhere: May be I've misunderstood but this sounds normal if you click on "Redeem at counter" at least on Android. It's the way you use the coupon in store if you order at the counter instead of with the app ordering system. Okay the coupon shouldn't appear on the Reward screen. Instead it should appear on the Coupon Code screen. (The same screen you get when you click earn on the reward screen although with a coupon now.)

      If you click on the back arrow or done, it should give you the option to remove the coupon and it'll be back. It should also time out after 15 minutes if you don't redeem it in store. If it's not, try killing the app and if that doesn't work, logging out and logging back in. Perhaps clear the app data if you want to be sure. If you don't remove the coupon, there should be a bar at the top which says "Tap To Redeem Coupon Code". Click on that to get back to the code screen and you'll have the option to remove it again.

      If don't think you clicked on redeem, are you sure? Although you now need two taps (one on the coupon and one on redeem) it's probably not that hard to pocket redeem etc.

    Free Whopper expires 31st Dec now ;-) But I don't know eh, as they can easily update the app and change the dates again.

    • I suspect if they don't change it in a few days it's probably not going to change again. The length is still a lot shorter than last years free 490 points on signup (as those lasted a year). And since it's only a Whopper I imagine some people are probably adding chips or a drink.

      The date was always a bit weird. The voting for free whopper is supposed to last until the 13th. But then the coupon ends on the 13th so if you vote on the 13th you have to redeem your whopper right today? Even though they say it may take up to 5 days to arrive. (Okay yes probably no one has had to wait 5 days, and nearly everyone only a few minutes.)
