Scholastic's Children's Book warehouse sales are returning to Auckland and Christchurch next week! Scholastic runs these sales most school holidays, which means it can be crowded with kids. The Auckland warehouse has limited parking, but you can also park on Lady Ruby Drive. Last time I went (last year) they didn't take credit cards - only cash and EFTPOS.
There's lots of kids' books and activity packs for various ages, all at great prices. Sometimes there are books that I've not even seen in the bookshops - a few years ago I picked up a couple of Star Wars hard back novels (with cardboard slip covers) for $1 each, which I hadn't seen in shops.
They're pretty hopeless at updating their website and emailing to their subscription list (via their website) with these sales dates, so you have to keep an eye on their Facebook page around school holiday time. :-(
