  • Cheers. I love these mystery/puzzle games.

  • I got it a while back. It's a code wrapper around an old Amiga-era game so that it runs on newer computers. It's quite good, although gets a bit weird at times, especially near the end.

    • Think you must have confused this with some other game? AFAIK Kathy Rain is a recent game developed a few years ago. It uses AGS a modern gaming engine for developing new games, no code wrapper for old games like ScummVM. https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic…

(AGS has been around for a long time and I'm not sure what version Kathy Rain uses but AGS was first release in 1997 so is definitely not Amiga era and I fairly doubt it would use a version that old anyway. Most recent AGS games use a version that at least supports Windows and Mac OS X. Often they use a fairly recent version because mobile device support has come a long way and AGS backward compatibility can be problematic. Although by the same token, it also means they often use a version around the time development started not when they were released.) As an AGS game it does use low resolution graphics (pixel art) as is common with a number of recent games.

P.S. If people like thise sort of game Wadjet Eye Games are well known for them, but there are several other developers e.g. Infamous Quests.

      • You're right. Katy Rain was actually released in 2016 … it looks and plays like an old Amiga-era game and is set in 1995, so that must be where I got my confusion from. Sorry.

There are a lot of old games being re-released by these games sites though.
