Warehouse Money Credit Card -Now $0 Annual Fee + 5% off Warehouse Purchases

Having been told they now have a $50 annual fee on the card, and cancelling and tearing up my card, now I receive this in my email…

Dear xxxxxxxxx,
On Friday 22 March, we notified you about the upcoming changes to your Warehouse Money Visa Card. The changes communicated included an increase to the purchase and cash advance interest rate, as well as being charged an annual fee on your account anniversary.
Whilst this is true for our other product on offer, this change wasn’t intended for the Warehouse Money Visa Card and was sent to you in error.
Please accept our sincere apologies for the confusion and any inconvenience we may have caused. To confirm, below are the interest rate applicable to your account as they have always been.

Absolutely incompetent… I suppose I need to apply for a new card now!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I hope it doesn't take too long for you! I'd canceled but hadn't cut up yet. Sent an email asking to unblock the card.

    Their service has been absolute garbage. Tried calling last week to cancel, on hold for over 30 minutes. No options to get a call back, no apology for the long ass wait time. Then finally got through to cancel and didn't get a confirmation that my cancellation will go through later on. So I try calling again today, guess what, 45+ minutes wait time, gave up in the end and sent an e-mail. Imagine being a customer and trying to speak to one of the staff members.

      I cancelled my card as well after receiving their email last week and on the same boat with you, waited for more than 30 minutes

      I guess a lot of their customer have cancelled their cards, now they are reverting back

    The discount increases to 10% for the first two weeks of April.

  • Ive rung before and got through in a few minutes, its normally been good .

    Im guessing all the people cancelling their cards has caused an overload, and probably their change of mind about the $50 fee too
    .

  • Same thing here. I cancelled by email but this isn't completed yet so hopefully can be reversed soon. I wonder if it really was a mistake or they changed tack after everyone cancelled.

  • I emailed and called to cancel yesterday, then called again today to reinstate. Aside from the 30+ minute wait time each time, it was pretty painless. Looking forward to taking advantage of the 10% off next week

    • Purple will (I think it did before? I don't have a Purple one)

      Red WH Money card will not have one.

    Oh god…i did the same thing, was on hold for almost an hour to deal with this and now they are saying there is no annual fee?! how come none of their reps knew?

    Let's face it, they saw the masses of people coming to cancel their cards and decided to backtrack. Hope whoever was responsible for the screw up gets fired.

      Bit of a harsh call for someone to lose their job (and possibly a lot more) over this. We don't live in the states.

      Although I do agree it's been one massive bungle - would love to have been a fly on the wall in that meeting following the phone lines being jammed with callers wanting to cancel their cards.

      Interesting enough that they decided to drop the fee on the red card again (error - who are they kidding?). Given SBS own the company now I would have thought they would encourage more Purple card holders which encourages more spending elsewhere to earn purple dollars.

        Looks like their killing their Purple credit card. Looking at SBS website, they do offer credit card with same cash back reward for $0 annual fee. Interesting.

      • In hindsight it was a bit harsh :(, but it came from a place of bad experiences with the card so far.

        Still they deserve some sort of spanking.

        It was funny, when i called up, the first thing the rep said was "Hi, are you wanting to cancel your card because of the annual fee?" - indicating there was a massive deluge of calls, probably not the best move on her behalf.

    Should mention there will be Establishment fee $55 once you make the first transaction (only applied for new card holder).

    I still think the fee is too high. Even for the credit cards with rewards, they still charge too much on the annual fee, compared with ones in other countries. I thought Warehouse Purple Card was a good start for changing this trend. But now, it's going back to follow suit. Too bad.

  • I'm a WH money card holder. How come I was never notified about the fee?

  • Pretty peeved off about this. Being a Purple Visa card holder, one they didn't email (yes and not in the junk/spam box) or notify me in any way. Secondly logging in online didn't tell me my anniversary date anywhere nor do the statements, unless I'm blind. Thirdly I learn that the SBS visa card doesn't have fees. Talk about a failure in acquisition transition. You would think their primary goal would be to retain as many customers as the can on change over and positively expose them to the SBS brand, not drive them all away.

    Do cheapies allow for "reverse" deals like this to be posted as a deal? They should the more publicity the better, I wouldn't have found out about these changes until too late if I had not read the comments on this deal
