      I actually agree with you, If this was a place was like Countdown, New World, Kmart etc I'd be all for it. Animates is not a big company, they do great things, like being partnered with the SPCA and Mobility Dogs. They also have amazing staff. If anyone reading this has pets I'd urge you to support businesses like these instead of buying from supermarkets :)

        Not that I agree with this deal but animates are a big company. I'd argue they are bigger than new world as new world are individually owned.
        Animates are the reason you dont have pet stores anywhere. Their model is to enter a market (suburb, city, town) run low margins until they have monopoly then pump prices back up.
        They are pretty expensive for most items.
        I'd try support your local pet store and not the big box retailers like this.

    It's obviously a mistake. The advertised special, 48 for $42, is surely meant to be 48 individual tins for $42. Not 48 x 12-pack-tins (576 tins).

    I'm all for a bargain and I'll happily shop offshore when the price difference is great enough (which is frequently), but this isn't 'getting a bargain', it's like watching someone drop their wallet in the street and deciding you'll just pick it up and keep it. It's a mistake, please, be classy about it :-)

    Also my cousin is employed by them so I don't want to see them go under.

      That's only really true if a human is manually checking all the orders. Who knows how every single company's online processing system works - it might be that someone in the warehouse just gets an automated printout with the items to be packed and has no clue what the price paid was.

    Animates have some truly eye watering prices for a lot of their stuff like accessories. A harness for $50 that would have cost them less than $5 etc.

        Not misleading because it was an obvious mistake, big difference between 48 tins and 576. If they had mistakenly advertise 58 tins (for example) then sent you 48, then you will have more say.
