  • I would recommend grabbing a cheap case for it if too, curved glass screen is pretty easy to crack if the phone lands on any edge as I found out. That being said it's a <$200 phone so it's not a huge deal

Red mi 5 pro has a metal back as far as i know. Plus all xiaomi phones come with a case in the box.

  • Am I missing something? How can I purchase it at $177nzd? When I go to purchase it (including the code) it comes up as $205nzd.
    Thanks

    • As mentioned in the post

Need to create an account or use existing account and grab the $20 Coupon and apply it in checkout!

    • Theres a US $20 Coupon in the link under the price. You need to grab it, then apply it at checkout. Theres a tick box you need to click to apply the coupon that you have grabbed some point during checkout.

  • Does it have B28? Might matter to some people

This tax was coming no matter what Government we had, it was National that started a bunch of research into if it was a viable option in addition to taxing digital sales from overseas. iirc it's ~Ocotber 2019 when this new tax might be introduced so plenty of time.

      • Yep iirc it was October 2019. I think it follows the same route as Australia's Tax that is coming into effect in July. The Onus on collecting the Tax would be on the companies that are based overseas to collect it and pay it back to NZ. Not sure what would happen if overseas companies don't collect tax for the NZ Government, but so far its shown that Amazon US has decided not to send anything to Australia anymore.

Yeah John Key (the banker) wanted to do it, but he left it for Billy to do the dirty work. Billy got no chance to do it of course lol…

  • Even PriceSpy isn't showing comparable Xiaomi's at this price. It's a choice deal that's cheap as. Cheers Tomo.

  • I get US142.26 less $20 coupon = $122.26 + $12.48 delivery = US$134.74

    • Are you logged in?
I'm in NZ and shipping to NZ is Free… Just went to the payment page already to check it and the shipping is still free.

    • Mine also change from Free to $12.48 so I canceled.

      • wow thats really weird Im at the paypal checkout page already and its not showing any shipping fees.

        • No biggy, was only an impulse buy to play around with.

        • @Mrbbi: Weird - just did it now and no shipping fee

  • Thanks! Ordered it for US $116.99 delivered

  • Thanks Tomo and Marcel - cost came back as $168.25 NZD converted by Westpac.

  • Looks like the global version has 3Gb of ram vs the Chinese version of 4Gb

    • +1

No its not. They both have 3gb or 4gb varients. 3Gb is just the cheapest option there is.

  • What would be a mainstream comparable phone to this?

    • +1

Maybe the Motorola Moto G6 ~~ although the moto G6 has a better camera and smaller battery. Seems comparable in most other aspects though

  • Hey I just went to purchase and cannot seem to find the coupon to grab on product page?

    • Looks like they have taken the coupon off but dropped the price a couple of dollars.

  • Anyone had it shipped yet?

    • +1

Yes I received it with CourierPost yesterday afternoon. The declared customs value by the exporter was hilariously small. It's a great value phone. They even provide a generic unopened screen laminate, plus a clear phone case which is a nice gesture!

I’m really impressed with this phone! It arrived with Google apps already installed, no Chinese software like the reviews said.
Very easy to use, the only weird thing I have found is the slow downloads from Google Play, but otherwise thank you!!
