Auckland to Tokyo, Osaka Return $786 (Christchurch $869), Seoul $822, Busan, Taipei $844 [Open Jaw, Return from Diff City]

China Southern is offering flights to destinations in Asia for cheap. These fares include bags, food and seats. Dates are March through June (Spring).

This deal is good for 3 reasons.

  • First is that the dates to Tokyo include cherry blossom season.
  • The second is that you can actually leave from different cities for the same price. So fly into Tokyo, fly out of Osaka. Or fly into Seoul and fly out of Busan.
  • The third is that you can also do a stopover in Guangzhou, China for a potential 3 in 1 trip.

Find the dates in Google Flights then put them into your preferred booking engine. I've tried to put lots of example but best to try out your own combinations.

  • Note: If you're planning to stay a little longer in China or visit multiple places there, be aware that there are extremely restrictive rules on length of stay that vary from city to city.

  • hi, how do you know it should be $786 instead of $827? China Southern's own website quotes the same price $827 instead of $786

It actually should be $786 however the sites on Skyscanner's aggregator don't do multi citi searches. So you can probably get the cheap fare if you contact STA Travel directly.

    • Note that the fares have gone up by $2 since posting due to currency fluctuation plus some of the 3rd party sites have now raised their prices.

If you look at the Auckland to Osaka Return fare on Skyscanner, it returns 16 results whereas the Auckland-Osaka-Tokyo-Auckland only brings back 5 results. If you take a look at the 1st result via Mytrip, you'll see that they offer a $43 discount on the flight bringing it to $788 from $831. Same thing with Tripsta. Out of that list STA Travel is only company with a local presence who you can contact and they are offering the flight for $802 however like the other sites aren't able to do different return cities on their website. I believe if you contacted them or went into the office they may be able to give you that fare for $802. That's just a guess though. Expedia via Momondo has it for $822.

EDIT: Actually, STA Travel's site does do multi-city. I couldn't get it to work the other day but it works now and it says $827, so that's no good.
