    I am tempted…..I need a tablet. The warranty is only 3 months.

    I can get a brand new nexus 4G 32gb one from amazon for $139 USD + $25 ship….works out to be about $200 NZD

    still better than anything you can get locally.

    For the extra $50 you get a proper warranty from amazon + 3g/4g

      That's not bad aye.

      I personally get more use out of my Chromecast than my tablet.

    Still a bit steep for me. A better deal will come up soon no doubt. I use xbmc. It does everything chromecast does + way more. xbmc also now runs very well on cheap android devices as well as connecting to my mythtv backend for freeview livetv + freeview tv recordings.

    Also xbmc runs well on my phone & tablet.

    XBMC and Chromecast aren't competition though, they are different products.

    XBMC will stream content through Chromecast or a smart TV etc, Chromecast is pretty much just an android stick that you can get from the Chinese retailers, but it's obviously supported by Google and a lot more integrated into Android.

    There will probably be some deals around Christmas on tablets.

    You can stream media content from your phone or tablet to xbmc as well. xbmc also supports airplay for apple devices.

    I am watching the ozbargain thread. Not enough feedback yet to pull the trigger. At $20 above a no-brand chinese tablet bargain. The nexus is also much better because it gets excellent software support + lots of accessories available.
