In order to boost traffic to the website and more deals, it might be a good idea to get some car stickers made up? Only have to be small that might fit on back window or something?
Just a thought as I reckon this site would do well with more bargain hunters.
I agree that both of the above methods are effective.
A popular method in Aussie is giving out t-shirts as prizes and at events, which we could look at once we have a large enough user base.
Posting on Facebook and forums only captures so many users, I have talked to a number of people over the last few days who would have not seen the site through either of the above, but now are aware through word of mouth.
Another option is to print/design your own items, if you want to.
Just out of interest how does the website plan to make an income? I don't see any advertising yet. Will deals be bumped up higher in the list if the affiliate pays a fee (ie like google search results having a relevant add at the top)
There are ads, but likely hiding behind your adblocker, registered users are also able to turn them off.
No, for now the ongoing costs are easily covered by OzBargain, which is why we are all committed to this for the long term. Advertisers may be able to purchase custom advertisements where the current ads are, but the placement of deals is solely down to a number of factors such as time of posting, positive votes, etc. There is no way to "buy" a higher placed deal.
I see. I often wanted a deals site for NZ and even thought about making me own (but I'm too lazy). I'm glad this site is around.
I more or less had the same view as that, but never got around to it, and had discussed bringing one here with Scotty in the past.
