  • It's probably rebranded from another cheapie brand, I'd personally avoid as its great when it's fine… When you have issues in 6 months it's a nightmare to troubleshoot

  • It looks like one of the tenda models. I would check out that brand as well if I was looking for mesh.

; it's the mw6 it looks like. Unsure of internals, though.

Why not this? Similar price better than Kogan for sure. I will prefer Tp-link.

I think this is the rebranded Kogan one

I agree - I have been using TP-Link kit for both some of our own requirements, and for some clients (especially the more price concious ones) since the early 2000s and I don't recall ever having any issues.

  • Thanks guys! I will consider the TPlink :)

If you are with Vodafone they give out Super Wifi (which includes 2 TP-Link Decos X20), and if your house requires 3 you can request for a 3rd one as long as you perform some troubleshooting to justify the need for a 3rd. There is a contract of 2 years where the cost of the Devices are deducted from your monthly bill, but might be cheaper than buying it directly. Check facebook too some of the users have decided to put the items on sale.

    • Electric kiwi is giving Netgear orbi 350 for free on their fastest plan(no contract). Also offering 2 months free. You can request a satellite for $100.

    • I'd recommend avoiding the Deco E4 as it'll max out at 100Mbps, so if you're on a plan over 100Mbps (e.g. 300 or 1000 down) you'll be severely limiting your speeds. The Deco S4 would be a good alternative, as would the M4. Just note that with the S4, the secondary and tertiary nodes don't talk to each other (to extend the network range), only to primary. Really depends on your house layout as to whether or not that'll work for you. I've set these up for a couple people now, in situations where the primary is in the middle of the house and the nodes are on either sides of the house, and they do the job perfectly.

I would actually go for the Kogan option listed over the E4, as it seems that the Kogan mesh now does 1000Mbps down (the earlier model is only 100, like the E4).

  • We've had these in our flat for the past 6 months. Got lots of thick brick walls and we were having heaps of issues with wifi extenders not working well, but the Kogan mesh was worked fantastically - works at a good speed throughout the whole house. Was also super simple to set up.

  • Stick to the branded gear better support and software.
TP-Link and Orbi are quite good

  • Digging up an old thread that I never saw before, but computer lounge have the original tends models of this at $90 for a pair, or the kogan one is $160 for a the pack.

I picked up the tenda model a couple of years back and run it in access point mode off the back of my isp supplied router. At first I had some problems but it's set to restart itself a couple of night a a week and hasn't had issues since setting that up. I've got mine set up as cabled together so I get good speeds out if them at 400-500mbps in the same room as either node.

The upshot of access point mode is I've left the 2.4ghz wifi in my main router in for smart devices that need it and the tendas are purely run ing phones and laptops that use the speed. Keep thinking of upgrading to wifi 6 but as we are only on a 300mbps internet connection upgrading wouldn't make it go any faster.
