Yep, whole eye fillet has been cheap since COVID hit. Must have been a few huge shipments rolled as they're all frozen. Auckland mostly gets Greenlea. The fresh/defrosted stuff, and small quantities is still usually $38-50/kg or so.

Most supermarkets have it around $23/KG.

Wholesale Meat Direct on Greville had it for $18 a few times, but for the most part it tends to be 23-24 (not that I've checked many other places regularly).

My partner bought rump steak from New World the other day for $26/KG and I called her a monster as we had cheaper eye fillet sitting in the fridge.

      • Monster.
        lol.

      • Picked up some eye fillet veal cheap as from paknsave that missed the export. Never seen the brand before.

        • I got some veal eye fillet last year as well. Looked like it was destined for the middle east originally. I wasn't really a fan of it to be honest. Probably wouldn't buy again.

      • At least she comes back home with meat, thats a keeper right there bro.

  • Any update on quantities available currently? :)

  • Thanks, it is crazy deal, i paid over 20 dollars last week for rump and bolar roast is around 19 dollars atm

  • Thanks OP, picked up one around 3ish this arvo. There were a few left though can anyone else confirm they didn't pick it up frozen with expiry date 27/7/21? Seems a long time to be in the fridge unfrozen. Will eat it next week but thought it was a little odd it wasn't frozen with a long exp date.

    • Vacuum packed primal cuts can last for months chilled.
